Heather Rosdobutko

Availability: Tuesday, Wednesday, and Saturday

Heather has over 15 years of coaching experience. She is a certified Provincial Coach, a trained National Coach, and a Skate Ontario CanSkate Specialist. Heather completed Gold Freeskate, Interpretive, Skills and Dance, and has been a Skate Canada STAR U Scholarship recipient. She holds an Honours Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology from McMaster University. Heather has taught skaters across all levels, and her coaching philosophy is to give each skater the opportunities they need to have fun and achieve their personal goals in skating. Through her continued learning, Heather strives to challenge and encourage skaters to develop their skating, confidence, and other positive life skills through sports.

Heather is also the Program Manager at our club. She leads the development and execution of Skate Canada programming operated by the Club, oversees the operations as the direct liaison between the coaching team and the Board of Directors, and manages the coaching team.

Isabella (Izzie) Capone

Izzie is a certified NCCP Provincial Coach who has been coaching since 2012. She completed Gold Freeskate Elements, Interpretive, Skills and Dance, and has a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology and a Masters degree in Professional Kinesiology. As a coach, Izzie strives to help skaters achieve their goals and potential through a fun, motivating and supportive environment. Not only does she aim to shape good skaters, but good humans, too! Izzie believes this sport can teach skaters of all ages dedication, perseverance, resilience and determination both on and off the ice.

Rebecca Wong

Rebecca has been coaching since 2014. Her NCCP coaching certification is Regional Coach Certified and is currently working on her Provincial Coach certification. Rebecca has completed her Gold Freeskate, Interpretive, Skills and Dance, and 3 Diamond Dances. She is also a Junior Synchro National & International Medalist. Rebecca has an Honours Bachelor of Science degree in Human Kinetics, and a Graduate Certificate in Exercise Science and Lifestyle Management. Her coaching philosophy is to provide skaters with a positive and supportive learning environment where they can grow as a skater and as an individual, by learning both sport and life skills, and achieving their personal skating goals. Rebecca hopes to instill in the skater a lifelong love, not only for the sport of figure skating but for physical activity and challenge.

Samantha Francis

Availability: Coach Samantha is currently not taking new skaters as a base coach, but she offers support lessons arranged through a skater’s base coach on Wednesdays and Thursdays.

Samantha has been coaching since 2015. She is a certified NCCP Regional Coach and has completed Gold Interpretive, Skills and Dance. Samantha has an educational background in Early Childhood Education and Health, Wellness & Fitness. As a coach, she is committed to providing a challenging, supportive and engaging environment for skaters of all ages to learn, grow and succeed. Samantha not only encourages a skater’s love for the sport but she also aims to provide the skills and confidence for individuals to remain active for life.

Meet our PowerSkate/CanSkate Coach

Jaymie Mara

Jaymie is a certified CanSkate Coach and a trained CanPower Coach. She has been coaching since 2018. Jaymie was a singles skater between the ages of 7 and 18, and was a competitive synchronized skater for 7 years. Her coaching philosophy is that a coach should be welcoming, enthusiastic and adaptive to their skaters in order to create a motivating and engaging environment. Jaymie aims to connect with her skaters to provide them with a unique and personalized experience and adapt to their learning styles. As a coach, she challenges skaters to try new skills, but also works on highlighting their strengths and abilities. Her goal is to share her love of skating and teach skills to be used both on and off the ice.

Meet our CanSkate Coaches

Brenda Steinnagel

Brenda is a certified CanSkate Coach who has been coaching since 2017. She is currently working on Keats foxtrot, Harris Tango, STAR 4 Skills, and STAR 2 Interpretive. In addition to skating, Brenda brings years of experience in coaching gymnastics/ trampoline. She was a Synchronized Trampoline Provincial Champion and a medalist at national adult skating competitions. Brenda has a medical background where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing and a Doctor of Medicine degree from McMaster University. As she was once an adult CanSkater herself, Brenda’s coaching philosophy is to foster the same lifelong love for skating in her current CanSkaters, just like her coaches did for her. She hopes that the skaters feel her enthusiasm for the sport and believe in themselves such that they can achieve their goals in a fun and safe environment!

Katherine Lepischak

Katherine is a CanSkate Coach in training who starts coaching in 2023. She completed Gold Interpretive, STAR 9 Dance, STAR 8 Skills and STAR 5 Freeskate. Katherine’s coaching philosophy is to help skaters learn and grow in a fun and comfortable environment. She believes all skaters should have the opportunity to learn the valuable sports and life skills that come from challenges and physical activity.
