CanSkate (Youth) - Tuesdays 6:10-7:00pm (FULL), Thursdays 6:00-6:50pm & Saturdays 9:30-10:20am
CanSkate is Skate Canada’s flagship learn–to–skate program for all ages, geared to both brand new skaters and those wanting to improve on their existing skating skills. Classes are taught by our professional coaches in a group lesson format in a fun and supportive environment. CanSkaters learn and improve on the basic skating skills needed for recreational skating, as well as those required to move forward to figure skating, hockey, ringette and speed skating.
Parent & Tot (Ages 2-5) - Tuesdays 5:40-6:10pm & Saturdays 9:00-9:30am (FULL)
This program is for skaters aged 2 to 5 years who would benefit from the assistance of a parent or other adult on the ice to assist them through the beginning stages of learning to skate. This program is designed to be shorter than the regular CanSkate program to help the skaters get acclimatized to the arena and being on the ice. Please note that the Skate Canada Insurance and Safe Sport Fee are required to be paid for both parent and skater, which will require 2 registrations to be completed-one for Parent & Tot-Tot and one for Parent & Tot-Parent. All parent helpers must be capable skaters.
PreCanSkate (Ages 3-5) - Tuesdays 5:40-6:10pm (FULL) & Saturdays 9:00-9:30am (FULL), 9:40-10:10am (FULL)
PreCanSkate is for our youngest beginner skaters aged 3-5 who have never skated but can not participate in the Parent & Tot program. It is taught in a group format by our professional coaches and our program assistants.
PowerSkate (All ages) - Fridays 7:00-8:00pm
Get a step up on the competition with PowerSkate, a high-energy instructional power skating program geared to hockey and ringette players. This program focuses on balance, control and agility skills including components of power and speed. Skating skills, techniques and performance drills are taught in a progressive format by Skate Canada coaches certified through the NCCP to enhance the skating ability required in game situations.
Skaters may be any age and must have previous skating experience that equates to Stage 4 in CanSkate or higher. Skaters without an identified CanSkate level will be required to demonstrate their on-ice skating skill level to participate in the class. Adaptive skaters and sledge hockey skaters who have an identified skating level are welcome. All PowerSkate participants must have hockey skates, gloves, a stick, and helmet. Full equipment is optional.
Some of the top players in the NHL have trusted Skate Canada’s best-in-class programs to help them reach hockey’s biggest stage including Nathan MacKinnon, Matt Duchene, Mark Scheifele and Jeff Skinner.
Preteen CanSkate (Ages 8 and up) - Saturdays 1:30-2:30pm
Our Preteen CanSkate program is a learn–to–skate program for skaters 8 and up and is geared to both brand new skaters and those wanting to improve on their existing skating skills. Classes are taught by our professional coaches in a group lesson format in a fun and supportive environment. This session shares ice with our Advanced CanSkate program.
Adult/Teen CanSkate (Ages 12+) - Thursdays 8:00-9:00pm
Our Adult/Teen CanSkate program is a learn–to–skate program for adults and teens who want to learn basic skating skills or improve on their existing skills. Classes are taught by our professional coaches in a group lesson format in a fun and supportive environment
Advanced CanSkate (Youth) - Wednesdays 6:00-7:00pm & Saturdays 1:30-2:30pm
Skaters are invited to join the Advanced CanSkate program when they have completed CanSkate Stage 3. This program allows the skaters to have more ice time and ice surface to master their growing skills. The Advanced CanSkate program has fewer skaters on the ice, providing more space and opportunity to increase power and speed. The program concentrates on helping skaters achieve CanSkate Stages 4 to 6, with the goal of completing the CanSkate program. Skaters who complete the CanSkate program (Stage 6) will move on to the STARSkate program (Figure Skating Skills).
